Greg Black Mouthpieces is proud to sponsor this talented group of wonderful musicians!

"An ensemble to watch - with a collective sound that shimmers and playing that quite simply makes you feel good."
- Robin Sheffield, General Manager, Royal Philharmonic Society

"Their future is so bright, they should be wearing sunglasses!"
-Benjamin Strickland

BONE-AFIDE is an emerging chamber ensemble made up of some of the UK’s leading young trombonists. A group of friends all currently studying in London at the Royal Academy of Music, the group strives to showcase the versatility of the Trombone, performing works from all genres and periods with the aim of defying stereotypes surrounding the instrument.

In 2020, the quartet became joint winners of the International Trombone Association Quartet competition. Later in the same year, they became a recipient of the prestigious Tunnell Trust Award, which will see the group perform a number of concerts throughout Scotland in 2022. After a successful audition in May this year, BONE-AFIDE are thrilled to have won the Royal Philharmonic Society Philip Jones Prize.

"The four of us in Bone-afide all massively enjoy playing on our Greg Black Mouthpieces. They assist us in achieving the blend and matched articulation that we strive for."
-Isobel Daws
